29 weeks and getting BIG!

Last week, at my 28 week appointment, I had a little scare.  To my surprise, my doctor noticed I was having some preterm contractions and sent me to the hospital to get monitored.  Fortunately, after they gave me some IV fluids, they stopped and we were sent home!  That experience definitely made me appreciate being on modified bed rest at home rather then in the hospital.  Needless to say, I've been drinking TONS of water and am still taking it easy.
I was supposed to go to Greensboro for my family baby shower this past weekend, but because of that scare, my doctors don't want me traveling for the rest of my pregnancy.  So my family all came to Wilmington and brought the party to me, which was awesome!  My sister drove down from Atlanta and my Aunt Val came all the way up from FL.  It really meant a lot to Matt and I to have everyone here!  We were showered with so many wonderful gifts for Jude and Chloe, we are so grateful for all the generosity we have received from family and friends!  These bambinos are already spoiled and they aren't even here yet!
I went to the doctors yesterday for my 29 week appointment and my cervix continues to be stable.  So I got a good review from my high risk doctor.  She basically told me that since my cervix hasn't gotten any shorter and has been consistent for the past 6 weeks, that next week will most likely be the last time I will need to get it checked.  She believes this is just a normal cervix range for my body with carrying twins.  She still wants me to take it easy, at least until 32 weeks, and then she feels comfortable giving me some freedom to do a little more activity.  I feel like 32 weeks is right around the corner, so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!   The babies are still super busy letting me know they are there all day long!  Next week they will do all the baby measurements, weight, etc...so excited to see how much they have grown in a month!

Love,
Emily

27 weeks and entering my third trimester!

Sorry its taken my a few weeks to get back to you guys. I have great news, the past 2 preterm labor tests I've taken have come out negative! This has been such a relief.  I had my second negative labor test result come back today, so that will put me safe until 29 weeks since it can only detect 2 weeks out.  I also passed my glucose and iron test this morning, so all good reports from the doctor!  I'm still on modified bed rest and am not planning on returning to work.  I'm hoping that when I go to see my high risk doctor next week, which is where I get my cervix checked, that they will say everything is continuing to be stable and that I just need to continue to take it easy, but not necessarily be on bed rest anymore...probably wishful thinking.  Despite the bed rest, I'm feeling fine. Jude and Chloe are super active, I feel them all the time!  I'm very thankful that the weather in Wilmington has been beautiful and warm, it's refreshing to sit outside on my lawn chair and get some fresh air when I'm sick of the couch!  I'm on the third series of the Hunger Games books and watching a lot of prime time on demand and make room for multiples on TLC ha.  I've also had a lot of friends stop by and keep me company which has been awesome.  Matt, as always, has been amazing.  He's working full long days, going grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning and catering to me...and all with a good attitude, I don't know how he does it!  I'm so grateful to have such a supportive hubby!
This last week has been very busy and a lot of fun!  We were in Greensboro for a long weekend to go to the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert and celebrate Matt's sisters wedding! Jo and Rob's wedding was beautiful, we had such a great time!  I'm so glad the babies cooperated and we were able to be a part of their special weekend!
I'm looking forward to the next few weeks.  We have lots of fun baby showers coming up and I'm excited about getting out of the house again!  I'll be in touch soon!

Love,
Emily
